Building Now for Later - Tidbits of Tee Takeaways
Tidbits of Tee Takeaways is a reflective follow-up series sharing real-life lessons found within the monthly Digest to help the intentional person bridge the gap between inspiration and integration.
From a young age we’ve been almost taught to focus on the titles we want to hold in the future. We ask kids what they want to be when they get older and we ask adults about their 5 and 10 year plans. These questions are good indicators of where people think they can go, their big picture vision but almost eliminates the examination of who you have to become based on the habits and things that will be required for that plan to realized.
For example you may want to get married and have a family but your current lifestyle lives little to no room for anyone to be apart of your life. Your work hours are chaotic, you constantly sleep with unfolded clothes on half of your bed, or you have one dish set like a serial killer 🤨😂 It would be like saying you want to lose weight but eat bon bons on the couch everyday and never working out or saying you’re going to be a lawyer but never reading, going to law school and passing the Bar — the habits and actions don’t align with the big picture vision.
It’s easy to get caught in comfort that we start operating on auto pilot operating with the habits that work for right now and not optimizing the things for where we’re trying to go. As we get deeper into the second half of the year reflect on your big picture vision and examine whether the patterns that you’ve currently built align and serve where you’re saying you’re trying to get to…and if it doesn’t begin to reconstruct the patterns that will serve you later. It’s going to suck mostly because the new patterns are going to change who you are but I believe the preparation will be worth it! Put the time in now so that you won’t have to pay for it later
Ya’ll aren’t in this by yourself, I’m currently reconstructing my workout schedule/routine and I’m trying to give myself grace and not to get frustrated. I think I may document this and do a mini series for insight and accountability, if I do I will be sure to share. In other news here are some mid month music drops!
