Joining Something New - July '26 Edition - Tidbits of Tee Digest
Tidbits of Tee Digest is a monthly newsletter providing curated insights to motivate, inspire and upgrade the style and mindset of the intentional person.
Sports are sporting this month — WNBA All-Star weekend is happening this month in Chicago, NBA free agency is chaotic, the World Cup has foreigners trying ranch, hot dogs, BBQ and Waffle House and I haven't even thought about the NFL!
So with that being said, July is the bulk of the summer and people are active and outside. Because I’m in a new city and have to build a new community I want to challenge you to do the same. Even if you not experiencing a new city you can still bask in a new community.
My entry way is usually sports; it has a way of uniting strangers from all walks of life and that can be seen from the World Cup or even from the Knicks winning the NBA Finals and the array of people you seen come together to celebrate.
Yours doesn’t have to be sports you might enjoy something completely opposite but I’ll put money on it that you’re not the only one that enjoys it. Join a book club, knitting club, hiking or running club, wine or whiskey club, car clubs, whatever it is you like I guarantee there’s some people gathering over their love for it too you just have to find it so get to searching — and in the event that it doesn’t exist yet maybe you’re the one to bring it life!
Nonetheless here’s some tidbits to take with you while you find your community!👇🏾💛
💭 Quote: You’re beautifully and wonderfully made
✊🏾 Black Company Highlight: Black Owned Bookstores
📓 Word of the Month: tangoreceptor [tan·go·receptor] noun - a sensory receptor in the skin stimulated by touch
👔 Fit Feature: It’s the World Cup, honestly I haven’t been as locked in because soccer lowkey makes me mad…they do all that running around for 4 hours and the score is only 1-0 or a tie! Like there’s no way we’re going to tie after all this cardio we just did somebody HAS to win!!! 😭😂 But anyway I did see how the African countries stepped off the plane suited and ready to down to business so let’s get into these looks!
📺 TV show: The Bear (Hulu), Ride or Die (Prime Video July 15th)
The 5th and final season of The Bear picks up the morning after Sydney, Richie and Sugar discover that Carmy has quit the food industry, leaving the restaurant to them. With no money, the threat of a sale and a storm in their way, the team must band together to achieve one last service. Ultimately, they learn that what makes a restaurant “perfect” might not be the food, but the people.
Ride or Die follows best friends Debbie Claybourne (Octavia Spencer) and Judith Burton who thought they knew everything about each other, except Judith turns out to be an international assassin. When a mysterious figure emerges from Judith’s past and a hit goes horribly wrong, both of their worlds are turned upside down as they’re forced to go on the run together. It’s a race against time and a road trip across Europe, with law enforcement, highly trained assassins, and some very dangerous criminals at their heels.
🎥 Movies: Spider-Man: Brand New Day (in theaters July 31st)
Zendaya and her man are back…Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he's devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
📚 Book: Kin by Tayari Jones
Kin follows two childhood best friends, Vernice (Ni) and Annie, from the 1950s in rural Louisiana as they navigate different paths in life — Ni’s journey toward education and affluence in Atlanta while Annie is on a quest to find her absent mother — exploring themes of friendship, motherhood, race, and chosen family in the Jim Crow South.
🎵 Albums:
I mentioned Tierra Whack’s mixtape “WHACK MUSEUM” last month, I gave it a listen and her word play is insane honestly I think she’s one of the best rappers when it comes to word play. Each time you listen you can hear the same bar and catch a new meaning and/or hear a bar that you completely missed the first few times.
kwn, a London based artist, dropped her new album “and all pride aside”. I shared her album last year and I was interested if she would “hold my attention” with this album as well and it’s safe to say my attention was held and I’m supporter of kwn.
T.I. has officially dropped his last album “KILL THE KING” and is retiring with his hat cocked to the side. I feel like he gave us a complete album and explored multiple styles and genres on this album while also having a subject matter that didn’t seem to contrast where he portrays that he’s at in life.
Dylan Sinclair’s album “Make You Feel” is a vibe and a cohesive project. I threw it on while I was working and I was more so disappointed that the album was over when my auto shuffle started playing something random.
Key Glock’s PROJECT X. I feel like this project showed his growth in artistry and he was little more vulnerable in his subject matter. Also RIP to Tay Keith, hearing his producer tag on the first track made me pause for a moment.
Thanks for reading! Be what you wish you had! 💛
