Let's Get Back to Delusion - Tidbits of Tee Takeaways
Tidbits of Tee Takeaways is a reflective follow-up series sharing real-life lessons found within the monthly Digest to help the intentional person bridge the gap between inspiration and integration.
I seen this post of a post game interview of Flau’jae Johnson speaking about how she’s able to be confident and bounce back by having a short term memory like a goldfish. For context Flau’jae is a WNBA rookie; she graduated from LSU, won a National Championship while also establishing her rap career. She had a career high night after coming off of a loss. In the interview she goes on to say “ you gotta be delusional…we have so many thoughts so you might as well feed into the positive ones & buy into them.”
This led me down a little thought spiral about how delusion shows up in our lives. I thought about the little humans I have the honor of watching grow up and how they have this innate high level of belief in the things they think they can do or want to do paired with the courage to even try! No matter if I’m joking with them telling they can’t do something they rebuttal with a puzzled look 🤨 and a confident “yes I can” 😂 which turns into me hyping them up to protect that belief and delusion. Because somewhere along the way as adults I think we lose some of that, it’s a muscle we stop working for whatever valid reason. And I think it’s a quality we should persevere in the next generation.
Kids have a delusion driven by curiosity and learning whereas adults our delusion shifts to being driven by achieving goals and checking boxes on our list. So when we feel like we’ve accomplished everything or don’t have any more goals I believe we can stifle our ability to truly bask in being delusional and open to endless possibilities how something can take form.
But I want us to tap back into our delusion…try something without the pressure of trying to be good at it, trying to master it and/or try something without the pressure of reaching the finish line.
Learn a new instrument, take a cooking or pottery class with no intention of trying to get a record deal at Def Jam & sell out stadiums, get on Top Chef or start a pottery business. Get a new notebook to write or draw freely that you don’t give yourself a deadline to fill it up by. And if you’re already doubting if you could do any of these things ask yourself if a 7 year old would let any that stop them…
The best way to protect and preserve living in delusion for the kids now is not only to speak life into them, fuel and nurture the things they love but to do the same things for yourself in the way you live it out in front of them to show that it’s possible! With that being said comment what you plan on trying and being delusional about!
As always thank you for reading and tuning in, I love ya’ll!! I hope this finds you well and you enjoy it. But more importantly that it adds value to your life, you’re able to take this with you and apply it to whatever your current experience is. Catch ya’ll next month! ✌🏾💕

What a great read! I plan on being delusional about the next chapter in my career as I pursue a new career path. My delusions will guide me on a successful path; I just know it!
