Best of luck to those filling out March Madness brackets but it’s Women’s History Month so we’re going to focus on that! 💁🏾♀️ There are some amazing women that have paved the way for us to be where we are today. Honestly you might not even have to look far to find a woman whose sacrifices directly correlate to where you are today. So shoutout to the matriarchs that thought about the people coming behind them. Soon enough (some sooner than others lmao) we — the women reading this newsletter — will be the matriarchs that our families will look back on!
We have so much power and freedom to be exactly who we want to be. We can “reinvent” ourselves or add to our bag as the kids say anytime we want. Look at Rihanna, she’s gone from body rolling singing “Pon de Replay” to billionaire business mogul, mom and family woman without an album lol so there’s no reason we can’t do our version of that.
We can live the life we dream of. And if you love who you are and where you are continue to thrive baby and celebrate who you’ve become and what you’ve been able to accomplish because you did THAT 👏🏾!
But while you’re dreaming of the live you want and taking the steps to make it a reality here’s some tidbits to take with you!👇🏾💛
💭 Quote: You’re exactly who you think you are…that girl! 💅🏾
✊🏾 Black Company Highlight: Essential Toothbrush from Art of Aesthetics, a Black owned dental studio in both LA and ATL that offers both general & cosmetic dentistry
📓 Word of the Month: tutelary [tu·te·lar·y] - serving as a protector, guardian, or patron
👔 Fit Feature: Staying on theme let’s look at some of the Black women that have recently graced some magazine covers and the looks they’ve been giving!

A TV series adaptation of Araminta Hall’s novel. A trio of friends who have known each other since college, when the unexpected death of one of them quickly throws things off as the other two search for answers.
🎥 Movies: Youngblood (in theaters - March 6th), The Gates (in theaters - March 13th)
A contemporary adaptation of the 1986 movie, follows hockey prodigy Dean Youngblood, who travels from Detroit to Canada to join the Hamilton Mustangs in pursuit of his professional hockey dreams. Raised on a strict diet of toughness and discipline by his father, Dean arrives with undeniable talent – and an arrogance that quickly earns him enemies. As he confronts toxic behavior both on the ice and within himself, Dean is forced to decide what kind of man and player he wants to become.
The Gates follows three college students on a road trip gone wrong, as the three young men take an ill-advised shortcut through a remote gated community, where they find themselves trapped behind the walls after witnessing a murder. Over the course of the night, they find themselves blamed, hunted, and fractured by their own differing belief systems, while the perpetrator, at his most charming and terrifying emerges as the cunning patriarch that holds the entire community under his influence.
📚 Book: Black Buck: A Novel by Mateo Askaripour
A satirical novel about Darren, a young Black man from Brooklyn who is recruited by a white-led tech startup and reimagines himself as “Buck,” a ruthless salesman, exploring themes of ambition, race, and corporate culture in a sharp, humorous, and critical way. 🎵 Albums: Ya’ll!! It’s some heat dropping this month! 🔥 So charge your speakers and headphones unless you’re back to using wired headphones then plug em in.
The 16 time Grammy winner Bruno Mars has done it again with his new album, The Romantic. This one is for the lovers! Listening to this album I felt like I was supposed to be in streets of a small intimate town in another country with the love of my life just frolicking LOL. Also he’s already announced his tour if you’re interested.
Moonchild, an alternative R&B band based out of LA that combines elements of jazz, R&B, and electronic music released their latest album Waves. This album is a vibe and they too have announced their tour as well if you’re interested. I enjoy going to concerts of up and coming artists because their shows are a lot more intimate compared to the big production of stadiums and arenas.
New artist alert, Jaymin, who is out of Seattle released his debut EP titled Sweet Nothings. An intimate self-recorded project made in his house, that’s built on honesty rather than perfection. He said he wanted to make a project embodying love, uplifting women and encouraging people to love again.
I’ve followed Foggieraw on Instagram for a while where he posts short form “poems”/songs, so his album With No Due Respect gives him the space and time expand on those while still being consistent with his poetic flow. He has some solid features too — Ari Lennox, John Legend & Larry June.
Thanks for reading! Be what you wish you had! 💛
